Full Size Bunk Beds

If you have a spare room or guest room or kid’s room that is on the small side, but you need to maximize the space for living and storage there’s a great solution – get bunk beds. Bunk beds not only save space but they allow you to have multi-purpose rooms that can act as bedrooms when needed. If your kid comes home on holiday break from the university or your grandparents come to visit for a week, you can change the room to a temporary bedroom and then go right back to using it as an office or storage room the rest of the time.

How are these beds constructed? Be aware that full size bunk beds often don’t include the safety railings that come with the smaller version. You may choose to install them if needed. Bunk beds are just 2 full size beds situated one above the other.

You may have seen this type of bed in use at a rest home or board and care. Any place designed to hold a maximum of overnight ‘guests’ will make use of full size bunk beds. For instance they’re often used in jails.

Can Kids Use These Beds?

Yes these bunk beds are safe for kids with the use of safety railings, for the younger set. You don’t want them to fall off the top bunk, so if they are at that age, make sure they are safe. Back the beds up against the walls and /or in a corner to maximize space in the room as well as create a safer environment. If the beds appear to get old and rickety, be sure to shore them up or get new furniture. You don’t want to take chances on a collapse. Remember these are bigger and heavier than single bunk beds.

Surprisingly these beds can wear out over time and hard use, with kids climbing and scrambling in and out. Kids just love to jump up and down on the bed, using them as their own personal trampolines when no one is looking. Ensuring they are up to the sturdiness challenge is especially important with younger kids who don’t have a good sense of balance yet and would have trouble getting out of the way quickly if something should fall.

Full size bunk beds can feel very cozy to those spending the night in them. When pushed against the walls in a corner they are almost their own little private world to dream in. Just be sure they are well constructed and in good repair so your guests or kids can have sweet dreams.
