There is almost a limitless choice in beds and bedroom accessories for teenagers. Kids like to choose their own style and colors, as we all know. Kids often want something trendy and brightly colored – and often not made too well. Many of these bright styles are made to look good, but not to function well or last long.

No one has as much space as they would like in their home for all the people and things in our lives. Now you are dealing with teenagers who are looking for autonomy and learning to make their own decisions. Usually they want to be individuals and not be like their parents. See if you can get your budding adult to go for a pine bunk bed. You will gain lots of floor space (tell the kids they will have a big dance floor) and create a cozy private space for your teen. You may even want to build your own custom set to be sure you have a perfectly fitting size and a unique style.

If you are planning on filling those beds (meaning you have more than one child to deal with) you can expect the kids to be hard on the furniture. If you make or buy a bed of sturdy wood materials and make sure the ladder and railings are secure, you should have a winner. It’s good advice to get the younger kid to take the bottom bed, especially if he or she is age 4 or younger. Fun, safety and a good night’s sleep – who could ask for anything more?
